The management consulting arm of IJ Group International is led by Jared G. Lilly, whose focus on nonprofit board development and governance, strategic planning, and special events helps nonprofit institutions develop effective ways to create the structures and practices necessary for success.  A graduate of New York University’s M.A. program in Performing Arts Administration, Lilly has had a wide range of experience in the arts, beginning with his schooling as a classically-trained vocalist and pianist.  While attending New York University, he worked with the Metropolitan Opera’s Patron and Individual Giving department, and he has served on the Grants Distribution Committee and the Advisory Committee of the Beckley Area Foundation and on the Community Engagement Advisory Committee of the Charlottesville University Symphony Orchestra.  A graduate of Wake Forest University, Lilly currently sits on the University’s College Board of Visitors and as the Outreach Chair for the WAKE New York Community Board.  In 2016, he presented on corporate philanthropy and charitable giving to the arts at the annual international conference of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action in Washington, D.C.  Having worked as a Special Events planner for the Boar’s Head Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia and The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia, two highly regarded resorts, Lilly has expertise that extends beyond the nonprofit realm to include experience in corporate Special Events.



Consulting Services

Lilly’s approach to working with clients is to conduct organizational assessments and analyze current governance structures, practices, and expectations by engaging in database research and reviews with staff and Board members. Following that initial step, he develops recommendations and strategic goals, and finally he crafts an institutional action plan.  With an emphasis on leadership, team development, and managerial effectiveness, Lilly offers client support in the following areas:


Board Development & Governance

To guide a client through the process of developing a strong and active Board, Lilly takes on such tasks as evaluating the current Board composition; identifying prospective candidates; training new members; and developing strategic plans to maximize Board participation.


Strategic Planning

Lilly is especially skilled at designing and facilitating the various elements of the planning process through such activities as securing input from stakeholders; working with Board and staff leadership; drafting a statement of overall direction and goals; and writing an action plan. 


Special Events

A seasoned Event Planner, Lilly is proficient at maximizing clients’ success throughout the entire process of staging an event, including strategy and program development; site selection; branding, marketing and budgeting; speaker management; attendee experience; vendor selection and management; and on-site management.
